BECOME A MEMBER
Membership means you have come into agreement with the vision, mission, and values of the church and want to see the church grow as we continue to reach people for Christ.
Membership is the way we love one another, serve one another, and challenge one another to know and follow Jesus. Through this local expression of the global Church, under the leadership of our elders and staff, in alignment with what God has called this church community to accomplish, and to whole-heartedly serve the people around us, our members are devoted to being the movement that sees the next generation captivated by Jesus.
Membership Class is the place to start at Austin Oaks Church to partner with us in our mission, vision, and values. Through the membership process, you will hear our heart and our plan to be Simply About Jesus. As a member, the church leaders will learn how to care for you, how to lead you, and how to encourage you. As a member, you will have the opportunity to serve, to grow spiritually, and to have input in our church business meetings. We invite you into this process as we all desire to be made more into the image of Jesus Christ.

Here are the Steps to Become a Member at Austin Oaks Church
Membership Class
- One meeting (3 hours) to learn about our mission, vision and values
Membership Application
Affirming the vision, direction, beliefs, and commitments.
- This will be sent out after attending the Membership Class.
Membership Connection
A conversation with a staff or elder to foster a relationship
- Upon submitting the membership application, a staff member or elder will review it and set up a meeting for the purpose of building a relationship.
Member Approval
The list of new members is approved by the elders.
- Upon completing the class, the application, and connection meeting, all proposed new members names will be taken before our elder board. Our elders will vote to approve all new applicants. After approval, new members will receive notification via email that they have become members of Austin Oaks Church.

Do I need to go through this process if I am a member of another church and transferring membership here?
How long does this membership process take?
Yes. We believe that it is important for us to know you and for you to know us as we are engaging in this partnership.
Do I have to be a member to participate in church activities?
There is no activity that our church does that is limited to only members. However, only members are allowed to vote at our annual business meetings. Attenders are welcome to come and observe these meetings. Certain leadership positions within our church are also limited to only members.
How often do you hold membership classes?
Our goal is to have at least four opportunities each year to become a member. If the times that you are trying to attend are not possible for you, please let us know and we will attempt to work something out.
It depends. It could happen in as soon as 3 weeks, or it could take a couple of months. After the membership class, the process of filling out the application and setting up the member connection could take a couple of weeks. The approval of the new members will happen at one of our elder meetings which happen monthly.
