Join a League Team
We are forming teams to represent Nueva Vida AOC in our city. We’ll place teams in the men’s division as well as Co-Ed divisions year-round at Soccer Zone in South Austin, all we need are the players! Games are two 20 minute halves, indoor field on turf, 6 on 6. To join a team, please contact Chris.
Our current teams are:
1. Men’s intermediate Division 3b on Saturday nights.
2. Co-Ed Beginners on Sunday afternoons.
Teams are forming now so email Chris to get in on the action!
Playing in the City of Austin Parks & Rec league at Krieg field, we’re looking to continue our co-ed Beginner/Recreational team on Monday nights and start up a new men’s team on the same evening for higher level of competition. To join a team, please contact Chris.
* Co-Ed novice/intermediate on Monday nights at Krieg Field. Games start at 7:25pm, 8:20pm and 9:15pm – with 8-week seasons.
Indoor 6 vs 6 co-ed play. Each league consists of 8 total weeks of play, with 6 weeks of regular season and 2 weeks of playoffs.
REC/Beginner Level play? While the current league is int/adv, we are seeking to build the beginner/recreational level play and community. We have open play every Thursday before league games starting at 5pm, before the league games begin at 6:30pm. If enough beg/rec level players join, we will dedicate each round of play every Thursday night to accommodate all skill levels of teams.
$40 per person registration fee is per season and includes team shirt and referee, scorer and season play. Registration is by individual only (with single friend request), as teams are formed around assigned AOC Sports & Rec team captains to promote community, even competition (spreading out heights, experience, size and skill…etc.), and build quality league-wide relationships. For questions, please contact Chris.
WINTER SEASON (October 17-December 19, No games on Nov 21) – Registration now open!
The Rec/Beginner league teams are formed by the league director, and made to be inviting of anyone and everyone, regardless of skill level. League is more “easy” on some basic rules in regards to fouls called, is less physical and features very evenly formed teams for players of all levels. We play two 20-minute halves with running clock.
REC/BEGINNER LEAGUE – Tuesday nights
$40 per person registration fee is per season and includes vol ref team, AOC reversible league jersey (if new registrant) and season play. Registration is by individual only (with single friend request), as teams are formed around assigned AOC Sports & Rec team captains to promote community, even competition (spreading out heights, experience, size and skill…etc.), and build quality league-wide relationships. What’s the fastest growing sport in the US today? Pickleball! A paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. Played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net. Played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. Played as doubles or singles.
WEEKLY GAMES/LEAGUES – COMING SOON! Working on establishing a consistent time to play (Most likely Mondays and Fridays in 2020).
How about some co-ed volleyball? Mostly adults but minors welcome with parental consent and a consultation with Chris to confirm safety and ability as we have some good hard driven balls in the games from some really good guy and gal players!
1. Thursday nights (Contact Chris) – Every March after Upwards youth basketball season
Ultimate frisbee is happening right now through Austin Ultimate Impact, a long-standing group in the city playing games at Zilker and Gillis. Games take place on Friday and Sunday evenings and in the summer on Wednesdays at Zilker. For complete details and to join the fun, contact J Paul Knight.

Healthy, whole living in Christ. Revelation Wellness® is a non-profit ministry dedicated to educating and inspiring people to live healthy and whole lives in Christ so we can love others well. In 2007, we started our ministry at Living Streams Church in Phoenix, Arizona by providing “open to the community” fitness classes called Revelation Fitness. We desired to breathe fresh hope into the fitness world and provide a new way for people to meet together and grow in love for God and for one another (Isaiah 43:19).
Classes are coming to AOC this summer, thanks to Chris’ beautiful and amazing wife, Joan Jahng who will serve as our own Fitness Teacher and Gospel Preacher.

AOC hosts Upward Basketball every January-March, and Upwards Soccer every Fall. Upward Sports Recreation Programs offer a variety of opportunities for young athletes to discover and refine their athletic skills while cultivating a passion for the sport. Through age-appropriate team play, athletes begin to build positive character traits that will allow them to encourage, strengthen, and motivate themselves and their fellow teammates. As they learn and follow game rules, young athletes will also learn the value of sportsmanship with a healthy competitive spirit.
Upward Sports athletes experience the 360 Progression, which is a uniquely designed sports experience that develops the total athlete mentally, athletically, spiritually, and socially. It is modeled in Luke 2:52 – “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” The 360 Progression helps young athletes discover and develop the skills they need to perform both on and off the field or court. It also creates individuals of strong character, confidence, and faith.
Boys and girls Kinder through 8th grade
$125 per person (discounts for multiple kids)
Practices and games begin in January and run through the end of February.
Registration begins October 13!
All our teams are built around assigned team captains who believe in reaching the lost in the name of Jesus Christ through the fantastic avenue of sports and recreation. Be one of our team captains and play with a deeper and united purpose. Be more than a player!
Couple things to understand as you play and serve on the AOC team. First and foremost is submission to the league rules, then your onsite team captains/league officials. Beyond that, accepting this call I am going to boldly ask you for a couple of personal favors…
1. Be the light! Pray together as a team and let the world see before and even after the games. With and for one another, for the game, everyone’s health and open hearts. Shine brightly! (Matt 5:14)
2. Be inviting! Shaking hands with your opponents is simply a great opportunity to invite them all to come and find us at church, via other leagues, groups and of course, Sunday services. (Mark 16:15)
3. Be the joy! Whether on a great team, or a not so good team, always represent victory and competition with Christlikeness. Don’t sweat the small stuff, be that team that everyone likes to play, because it’s tough, fun and both #1 and #2! Athletes respect greatness, dignity and effort. Go get it! (Romans 15:13)
4. Be memorable! Take pictures! Help me share what we’re doing for prayer and awareness. Share stories with me, join up before or after games (be inviting!) and keep me posted! I want to share game results and photos every week after the games! (John 13:35)
Email Chris Jahng for more information.
We can always use more help. Come and serve, meet great people, be inviting and shine brightly as His lights everywhere we go and play! Setup/cleanup is always helpful, food service is fantastic, planning and ideas are awesome, and simply being there to help take over nights for Chris when he can’t be there are all some various ways to just get involved, beyond playing! Contact Chris for more info!
You can also serve as an Upwards coach or referee for Basketball and Soccer, teaching and guiding the kids and families through the ministry. You can also volunteer to monitor at an ATX Ballers camp, tournament or clinic we’re hosting.
Another great opportunity is to come and teach classes for the community, adults and youth alike with various sports. Currently we are teaching youth basketball and volleyball (youth and adults) based on requests.
